Haiku In The Hills

  • Dandenong Ranges Botanical Gardens The Georgian Road Olinda, VIC, 3788 Australia (map)

Cooooee to all the haiku-curious! Welcome to Haiku In The Hills, a playful Poetry Month experience that explores the Japanese poetic form on Wurundjeri land, amidst the cool temperate rainforests of the Dandenong Ranges. Part writing workshop and part bushwalk, we will walk, contemplate and create Haiku together. You can decide when you'd like to engage with others, and when you’d prefer the sole company of your thoughts and pen. No prior experience is necessary – we’ll discuss everything you need to know to explore the haiku form and write your own. Finished haiku will be collated and printed. This event welcomes all ages; participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The walking tracks will be easy but likely a bit wet so wear suitable footwear on the day. A vegetarian lunch will be provided. Bring a small backpack with writing materials and a raincoat/umbrella if it’s raining. For enquiries, reach out to ajdcostacreative@gmail.com. See you then for a day of creativity and connection in the in the Hills' lush embrace!

Your Facilitator: AJ D'Costa is a Naarm-based artist, poet and therapist of Goan-Indian heritage. Her creative work explores the diasporic experience, modern day pilgrimages and love in a brutal world. Find her @ajdcosta.creative "
