Rude Poets

  • Cafe Gummo 711 High Street Thornbury, VIC, 3071 Australia (map)

The second Sonic Poetry Festival instalment of RUDE POETS, a night of rude, naughty and inappropriate poetry (not necessarily sexual, just finger-up-to-the-establishment kind of poetry). Hosted (and featuring) Koraly Dimitriadis and Jaidyn Luke Attard (Street Poet). Bring your own poem too, share on the open mic. $5 entry (free if you are reading on the open mic).

Limit 1 poem, max 3 minutes.

PLEASE NOTE: Rude Poets! is about supporting the free artistic expression of poets. This is a safe space to experiment with subject matter and taboos, and we hope attendees are open and accepting and that the poetry performed facilitates larger conversations. If you feel this may not be the right environment for you, please consider some of the other poetry events for the festival as an alternative.

Koraly Dimitriadis is a poet, writer and performer and the author of the poetry books Love and Fck Poems, Just Give Me The Pills and the recently launched She's Not Normal. Her short story collection The Mother Must Die is forthcoming with Puncher and Wattmann, 2024. Instagram: @koraly_poet

Jaidyn Luke Attard is the author of two novels (There’s a Tale to This City & The Street Poet). He writes about the raw, unfiltered passing moments of life around him, and pastes his poetry up around in the city for people to find. You can watch his spoken word films on YouTube or see more of his writing on Instagram @jaidynpoetry
